Well, the season is upon us now. We have offically opened up the 2009-10 season for Elder Wrestling. It is great pleasure I can report that our Varsity Team looked extremely well this past weekend. We had (10) out or (14) wrestlers go undefeated (5-0) in our opening Duals Tourney. On the day we only lost (4) individual matches out of a possible (65). That says something for our team. We did all of this with (2) of our starters out with injuries. As I stated before I am excited for our season and was very inpressed with what I saw out of our team. I not only like the kind of intensity we had but I liked the fact that we were pulling for each other in every match. Being a team is one of the most important parts of having long term success and this team is coming together.
Which brings me to another point, this coming Saturday we will be wrestling our rivals from Bridgetown (Oak Hills) and as always this will be braging rights for the next 12 months. I believe our kids are ready and would love to see a HUGE contingent of Elder Wrestling Supporters at Oak Hills on Saturday night. The match starts with the JV & Freshman wrestling at 5:00 pm and the varsity starting around 7:00 pm. It is Alumni Night for the Highlanders and we will need all the support we can get from the Elder faithful. If you night is open please plan on attending. I would love to see a sea of purple in their stands.
