Great State Tourney for Panthers

The State Meet was a good experience for our Panthers. After we had a Not So Good, 1st round (won 1 of 8 matches), the kids realized that they belonged and stormng back in the consolation rounds. We had 5 of 7 kids win their 1st conso round and then on Friday morning in the next conso round the Panthers made school history by winning 3 of the 5 matches in the conso round and placing 4 Panther wrestlers in the top 8 in state. Most ever in school history. While this was going on Ian Korb was winning his Quarter final round and getting ready to wrestle in the Semi's. His match in the Semi's was very close but he came up short (6-3). He came all the way back through the wrestle backs to take a solid 3rd place. The others did the same and battled through the tourney. The finish was, Ryan Ruffing (8th), Sam Conners (6th), Kevin Hyland (4th) and Ian Korb (3rd).

It was an outstanding tourney for our team and we placed 9th in the state (2nd top ten finish in the last 3 years). We look forward to next season and making an improvement on this finish.

Thanks for all the support we have gotten from or fans. Without your support we would not have been able to accomplish these kinds of things.

Go Panthers!!!

Tommy Pretty and Orlando Scales AA See story

See article attached, Tommy Pretty and Orlando Scales both AA'd at the NAIA National Championships this past weekend. For Tommy it was his second time AA'ing and for Orlando (as a true Freshman) it was his first of many.

Tommy was the National Champion at 133lbs and is Elder's 1st ever College National Champion. Orlando was the National Runner Up at 285 (joining Elliot Spence as our 2nd National Runner up at the college level).

It makes me proud to say I coached both of these outstanding individuals. They were not just great wrestlers but they were outstanding people that love to represent Elder. They are both proud to say they came from our great school. It makes it even better.
